Today I fixed a printer problem, at the beginning the Power LED blinks in green and orange alternately, I tried turning the printer off, remove the power plug from the outlet and insert it again, and turn the printer on again. But the problem is still not resolved…. According to canon’s manual that is an error requiring repair may have occurred.
Then I counted that is 8 times blinking in every cycle. The manual stated that Replacement of the Waste Ink Absorber (Waste Ink Tank) is needed. The waste ink absorber (waste ink tank) is a part in the printer that absorbs ink used in operations such as print head cleaning. If this error has occurred, replacement of the waste ink absorber (waste ink tank) and printer inspection are required. Finally I managed to get the solution after studies other users’ feedback at internet and I have summarized them as below: First, you may try to take out the square rubber at the right side corner of your printer. Then use the tissue to absorb the waste ink. Clean and wipe the ink around there and place the absorber back into the tray. After that, just clean your print head by using Canon software will do.
If still encounter the same problem:
Try the Waste Ink Counter Reset Manual for “Service mode”
1. Turn off the printer. And disconnect the printer cable.
2. Press and hold the POWER button, turn on the printer.
3. The indicator (LED) should be green.
4. Press and release the RESUME button, the indicator (LED) should be orange.
5. Press and release the RESUME button again, the indicator (LED) should be green.
6. Release both buttons.
Then try another 4 steps to Reset Waste Ink Tank Counter
STEP 1:- Disconnect printer from AC power
STEP 2:- Press and HOLD the POWER button, and connect printer to AC power
STEP 3:- Release the POWER button
STEP 4:- Press the POWER button again
